“Let us express our maximum solidarit
y for the Urban Watch. ERA will be in Milan to fight for real internationalization.” Statement by Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the “Esperanto” Radical Association.
“A reliable newspaper has denounced the Urban Watch for having too much difficulty communicating with tourists. It is the umpteenth proof of colonization: instead of encouraging tourists to learn the language of such a culturally rich country, we fool ourselves that to direct traffic in Italy you speak the Queen’s language,” Pagano concluded.
” Isn’t English an easy language? Isn’t this the excuse used to colonize millions of people, pushing them to think in the Commonwealth language so as to sell them to the Anglo-American market? As Radical Association, we will go to Milan and meet the Urban Watch, to show our solidarity, and offer them an Esperanto lesson to show them how they will be able to express themselves better after a 2 hour Esperanto lesson, a language born for international purposes, than after 50 hours of English, the language of a single community that has imposed it on everyone else. Enough colonization: linguistic democracy now, in Milan, and everywhere else in the world, for the United States of Europe.” Pagano concluded.
